PORTUGAL XPD RACE
2nd Edition
7 to 10 October 2004

All the information and the on-line registration for the 5th race of the Expedition Racing League is now available in a brand new Web Site (http://en.portugalxpdrace.com/ ). It will be a fast pace expedition race in a beautiful landscape. Hard navigation and many transitions will push the teams to their limits. The design of the race will make strategy the key for winning, good decisions and team work will be mandatory throughout the four days of racing. It will be a true non-stop race without assistance but with a friendly atmosphere all over. The teams will make close encounters with the locals and their daily activities and thus a smile will be all you need for asking for help.

So, if you wish to live up to 500 km of adventure, come and share your love for the nature with your fellow racers...in the ERL Grand Raid Western Europe!!!
With a mix of discovery, knowledge and sport...Portugal XPD Race is open to every kind of person. A team is made of 4 members. The four days race is adapted to everyone even if a minimum physical condition is recommended to totally enjoy the race. The race will be played under Score rules and everybody will be ranked with the number of CP’s obtained. This means, that you can tailor the race to your own capacities and skills and achieve your goals without being disqualified.
The adventure programme includes:

At day one (7/10) a small Prologue - Running with multi-activities – of aprox. 1 hour and the 1st Section which last for around 19 hours with MTB, Swimming, Running/Hiking and a nightly Tyrolean traverse with the bike.
At day two (8/10) it will be disputed the 2nd Section which last for around 25 hours with Rollerblading and TRIKKE, Kayaking, Running/Hiking and again another Tyrolean traverse.
Days three and four (9 & 10/10) it will be disputed the 3rd Section which last for around 36 hours with Rollerblading and TRIKKE, Kayaking, Running/Hiking, MTB and more spectacular Tyrolean traverses.
At the end a delicious meal will close this great adventure. From the all the prizes and souvenirs one will for sure make you remember Portugal. All the teams present at the race will be receive a 3CV TRIKKE vehicle for training and practicing this amazing new mean of locomotion.
